As a cooperative-owned generation and transmission company, we are Minnesota's second largest utility based on generating capacity.  We are seeking a member electrification strategist to manage implementation of the corporate member beneficial electrification strategies, ensuring a focused and centralized internal and member-based beneficial electrification program. Provide policy analysis, advocacy, and assist in development of strategies to enable strategic growth and reputational benefits for GRE and member-owners. Develop and manage strong member cooperatives’ business relationships.



    • Ensure that GRE and its member cooperatives optimize beneficial electrification opportunities provided within the CIP and future legislation.
    • Identify and manage market research development opportunities in conjunction with member-owners.
    • Manage relationships with related external stakeholders and maintain collaboration presence.
    • Provide policy analysis, advocacy, and assist in development of strategies to enable strategic electrification growth for GRE and member-owners.
    • Track, measures, and reports on electrification measures integrated in the strategic plan.
    • Engage in public speaking, events, and public relations opportunities with member-owner and external audiences.
    • Collaborate with marketing staff to increase awareness and end-use through promotion of electrification technologies including but not limited to electric vehicles.
    • Provide direct technical and marketing support services to member cooperatives’ residential and commercial/industrial/agricultural key account representatives.
    • Provide project management leadership as required/requested.
    • Provide subject matter expertise and content for the annual Member Services Program Guide.
    • Collaborate throughout GRE and across the membership to advance the knowledge and use of beneficial electrification.
    • Serve on beneficial electrification communications team.
    • Advise on the improvement of current programs and services to ensure economic value to GRE and its member cooperatives and their members.
    • Provide continuous advocacy and consultative services to member cooperatives that will ensure member satisfaction and a positive member experience through a customized member services plan.
    • Be an advocate to articulate the cooperative’s business needs and challenges to the appropriate GRE staff and seek timely resolution of member-owner complaints and issues.
    • Conduct regular visits with assigned member cooperatives and include a review of the assigned member cooperatives’ customized services.
    • Obtain a clear and comprehensive understanding of the cooperative’s business issues and challenges which includes identifying short-term and long-term opportunities to provide value and create a customized member services plan.
    • Facilitate investigation and closure to member cooperatives’ complaints/issues by involving appropriate GRE staff.




    Knowledge typically acquired through a bachelor’s degree in business administration, public policy, energy related, marketing/ or similar education required. Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Certified Business Energy Professional (BEP) is preferred. A minimum of five years of working in electric utility business, marketing, cooperative energy services, or related field. Frequent day travel to cooperatives and regional meetings and events. Occassional nights and weekends required based on events.
